Wisdom

is a quality that Buddhism cherishes, for it leads to the realization of the ultimate truth. The image of Manjursi is an important representation to this. Manjusri is the bodhisattva associated with wisdom and, in Vajrayana Buddhism, is the meditational deity (Yidam), who embodies enlightened wisdom.

Khadga, the Sword of Wisdom is the main symbol associated with the bodhisattva Manjursri. Representing the realization of transcendent wisdom that cuts down ignorance and duality, Manjursri is usually depicted as wielding a flaming saber in his right hand. This sword is a physical symbol of wisdom; it represents a heart that recognizes truth.

Along with the sword, the Prajnyaparamita (The Book of Wisdom) is among the first texts of Mahayana literature. The Prajnyaparamita is an element used to discover truth. Said to have been heavily guarded at times, the Book of Wisdom is also personified in many depictions and always leads to the path of enlightenment.
